What is the [Co]lab?
The [Co]lab is a 3-day immersive workshop designed to help K-8 educators build their mathematics content knowledge. This workshop prepares teachers for a student-centered approach to learning that focuses on deep understanding and robust reasoning and communication. The [Co]lab is our flagship professional learning experience and serves as a starting point for many educators who are Learning for the Long-View.
Why is the [Co]lab important?
The [Co]lab is a disruption of the traditional practices and norms of K-12 math education. By engaging in this three-day workshop, you will leave with a newfound love and appreciation for math and an understanding of The Number Lab Math Block.
What is The Number Lab Math Block?
The Number Lab Math Block is a learning experience that immerses K-8 students in a knowledge-building community engaged in the discipline of mathematics– specifically to bridge the gap between arithmetic and algebra. The Number Lab Math Block frees learners to think critically, creatively, and independently with a strong foundation of number, while at the same time developing crucial skills of communication and collaboration.
