Math Education Reimagined
The Number Lab is an organization that works with K-8 educators to build a strong foundation of mathematical knowledge that bridges arithmetic and algebra while optimizing practices that promote growth of critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity. Our work is to assist teachers in presenting mathematics in a way that learners view it as an ever-growing, coherent body of knowledge that is founded upon essential, connective understandings, resulting in a deep understanding of mathematical ideas, a positive identity, and strong number reasoning skills.
Our Offerings
Workshops
We teach and support educators across the country. We travel to schools to run workshops, host a summer institute in Austin, and conduct coaching sessions embedded in our Long-View classrooms.
Membership
Learning for the Long-View is a subscription-based platform that support educators in creating a mathematics classroom that nurtures deep conceptual understanding, reasoning, critical listening, and collaboration through videos, scripts, anchor charts, and lesson plans.
Products
From t-shirts to math tools and anchor charts, we have both physical products and digital downloads for math educators.
The Number Lab is proud to be featured on Transcend Education’s Innovative Models Exchange.
Our learning framework has allowed us to gain the attention of educators and educational leaders across the U.S. and in several other countries. In 2022, The Number Lab Math Block framework was added to Transcend Education’s list of inspiring learning models, The Innovative Models Exchange. Our inclusion in the Innovative Models Exchange was due in large part to our practices that support dynamic, multi-dimensional, concept-rich learning experiences, the kind of experiences that genuinely honor mathematics as an academic discipline.
