100 Chart Field Guide
This guide supports you in implementing one of our Thought Exercises: 100 Chart.
As the name implies, a Thought Exercise is meant to develop the thinking that is crucial to the full development of mathematicians. To truly access the conceptual terrain we put before our mathematicians, we also have to simultaneously work on developing their thinking skills—both generally and with specific regard to mathematics. Thus, these are exercises in thought and require the teacher to deliver them such that the experience induces students to grow more sophisticated ways of thinking.
The 100 Chart Field Guide is meant to feel very casual and practical. Sample prompts are provided, but the highlight is the way the guide drops you into a school culture and math class that offers a very different experience than teachers and students often encounter. Videos, photos, and examples from Long-View Micro School add to the richness of the guide. Ultimately, the guide strives to empower you to write their own 100 Chart prompts and shift the culture of your math class to one that supports reasoning within the discipline of mathematics.
This 75+ guide is great for elementary and middle school teachers or math coaches. You’ll need to download our FREE 100 Chart—each partnership of two students will need a 100 Chart (we laminate ours), and you may also want to purchase our Large Vinyl Hundreds Chart for Public Shares.
A PDF will be emailed to you immediately after you check out.
