Community Conversations are just informal discussions about something that you feel like your learning community needs to think about. These discussions are not a one-and-done kind of thing; they are typically seeds that are planted, and then you’ll need to keep dipping back into what you talked about to help deepen the understanding, turn it over and think about it in different ways, or help kids really make use of what you’ve talked about as a community.

Community Conversations don’t have to involve a lot of planning. Sometimes we ask a question, sometimes we offer some research or some information we think might help the community, and sometimes we talk about something that isn’t working well. Many times we are explicit about naming a clear point or take-away. At times, an anchor chart is created to capture remnants of the discussion.

Over time, Community Conversations build productive culture.
